Chief Librarian
The Museum of Islamic Art, Doha Qatar
Responsibilities include:
• Development and implementation of library policies and procedures at both strategic and operational level
• Development and implementation of the library’s annual plan; preparation and monitoring of annual budgets
• Organization of day-to-day library operations
• Development of the computerized library catalogue and other electronic information systems, including the negotiation of contracts and management of contractors
• Development and implementation of a book-acquisition process, including subject area guidelines
• Management and appraisal of library staff, including recruitment and training
• Development of security and audit functions
• Development of interlibrary cooperation with local, regional and international bodies
• Representation of the MIA and its library in local, regional and international contexts.

Requirements:
• Suitable qualifications in library science
• Five years experience at managerial level in specialist library
• Experience of computer-based cataloguing in multi-language environments
• Demonstrable skills in policy and procedure development and implementation, and in the management of staff
• Knowledge of Arabic and experience of the Middle-East and of Museums an advantage
